Benzyltrimethylammonium chloride has good solubility and can easily dissolve in water, ethanol, and butanol, but is insoluble in ether. Benzyltrimethylammonium chloride is prone to deliquescence in environments with high humidity. Benzyltrimethylammonium chloride is a compound with Cationic Surfactant properties, which can be used as an emulsifier and polymerization inhibitor. Benzyl trimethyl ammonium chloride can be compatible with water and soluble with non-polar monomers. It can form micelles in the water phase, so that non-polar monomers can be dispersed in the water phase, thus realizing lotion polymerization of polymer. The advantage of benzyl trimethylammonium chloride as an emulsifier is that it contains benzyl groups in its structure, which can enhance the lipophilicity of polymers.
