The main bactericidal mechanism of isothiazolinones is electrophilic fungicides. By relying on the active part on the heterocyclic ring of isothiazolinone to form hydrogen bonds with the bases on DNA molecules in bacterial proteins, and adsorbing them on bacterial cells, it plays a role in attacking the cell's nucleophile, thereby destroying the structure of DNA inside the cell, causing it to lose its replication ability, relevant biological, biochemical reactions, and metabolic activities, and ultimately leading to cell death. The different structures of isothiazolinone derivatives give them different property characteristics. Derivatives of isothiazolinone with short branches have good water solubility and are used as antibacterial agents; Derivatives of branched isothiazolinones have poor water solubility and are fungicides.Isothiazolinone(CMIT/MIT) fungicides are widely used in fields such as steel smelting, oilfield water injection, refineries, thermal power plants, large fertilizer plants, paper mills, textiles, water-based coatings, and industrial cleaning.
