Tetramethylammonium hydroxide，TMAH, also known as TMAOH cas no.:75-59-2, is an organic compound with the molecular formula (CH3) ₄ NOH and a molecular weight of approximately 91.15. It usually exists in the form of pentahydrate crystalline compound (TMAH · 5H ₂ O), presenting as colorless deliquescent needle shaped crystals with a certain ammonia odor. Its melting point is 62~71 ℃ and boiling point is 120 ℃. Easy to decompose under heat, it decomposes and vaporizes at 135-145 ℃. High purity tetramethylammonium hydroxide completely decomposes at 140 ℃ without leaving any residue. Easy to dissolve in water and alcohol organic solvents, slightly soluble in organic solvents such as dimethyl sulfoxide and dichloromethane. Tetramethylammonium hydroxide cas:75-59-2 has strong alkalinity and can react with various acids to form Quaternary Ammonium Salts. It can quickly absorb carbon dioxide in the air to form carbonates, and also has strong methylation ability and fast esterification reaction rate.
